"Recently I spent the better part of 6 weeks sick with a cold/flu and could not work out.  I was depressed and used that as a reason to eat anything I wanted.  Shana was starting a 24 day challenge in the studio and I thought I might as well give it a try. I had nothing to lose but pounds and inches.  I went to her introduction class to understand the plan and I was excited to get started.  On February 1, 2012, I started the plan.  I worked hard, followed the meal plans and weighed in 18.6 pounds lighter with 15 inches gone on February 25, 2012.  My skinny clothes in the closet were now dusted off and ready to wear.  I had changed my eating habits and focused on the protein/fat/carb ratios and not so much on the calories.

Once the challenge was over, I continued with the eating plan that I had learned .and guess what???  It was NOT a magic pill, or special diet. When you meet the 24-Day Challenge head on -- you'll make shifts. You'll see how it is possible to implement the discipline and planning to put yourself and your health front and center. AND, if you can do it for 24 days, then why not the majority of the remaining 341?

And here's the best part -- You do not have to be a current client to participate, nor do you have to live in the Houston area. You choose your start date and follow the online guide and webinar sessions. No matter where you live, you can implement the full program virtually. If you've been working out but not seeing the results you'd hoped for, then this program may be perfect for you. You see, the simple truth is that you can't workout your way around food. If your nutrition is poor, your workouts alone will never deliver the results you want.

The Components of the 24-Day Challenge

The Challenge is a healthy lifestyle template that you place over your life for 24 Days. It is designed to teach participants the basic principles of how to structure a healthier lifestyle. You will learn:
  • The importance of planning meals and prioritizing your time to include the activities of a healthy lifestyle (physical activity, grocery shopping, food preparation, sleep, play).
  • To identify nutrient dense foods that will fuel your body for optimum performance
  • How to navigate the grocery store and not fall prey to false advertising promoting so-called "healthy foods"
  • Tips on how to implement behavioral change strategies that will help you break the self-sabotage cycle

Days 1 - 10: The challenge begins with a 10 day cleanse. This is not a restrictive fasting cleanse. You will eat real, nutrient dense foods that you can easily purchase at any market. The cleanse is designed to help rid your body of toxins that can slow fat loss and in the process have you feeling more energetic and balanced. You will eliminate dairy, wheat, alcohol, refined sugars, corn and white starches, soda, coffee and bread -- in other words, all the stuff that should be minimized anyway if you truly want to live a healthier lifestyle. You'll eat plenty of veggies, fruit, healthy fats (avocado, nuts/seeds, nut butters, etc.), lean proteins and clean carbs. You know -- all the stuff you're always told to eat, but for some reason you just haven't done it yet. You will use the Advocare Herbal Cleanse System and Spark during these 10 days.

Days 11 - 24: Once the cleanse is finished, your body will be ready for maximum nutrient absorption. For the final 14 days the meal plan becomes less restrictive, but still focuses on teaching you how to eat clean. You'll still minimize alcohol, bread and dairy but will have a wider variety of foods from which to plan your meals. This two-week plan is the plan that gets down to teaching you the basics of changing your lifestyle and should serve as the nutritional role model you strive to follow 80 - 85% of the time. Accomplishing this level of follow-through after the 24th day will set you up to take massive strides toward improving your health and fitness for the rest of your life. You will use the Advocare Coreplex and Spark.

Program Structure and Tools

  • Small Group Workout Sessions: If you are not a current client but you live in the Houston area, you will have the option to purchase eight small group training sessions in our private facility for a discounted price. These sessions are a hybrid style of training that combines weight resistance and cardiovascular training in the same workout to maximize your calorie burn, both during and after the workout.

The Webinars

    We've developed four educational webinars for you that will address many of your questions. These webinars will be available to you at any time so that you can listen at your convenience. If you've never watched a webinar, it's really simple. All you need is your computer and speakers.

  • Webinar 1: "Wrap Your Head Around Health: Strategies for the First 10 Days" -  / I'll cover all of the information you'll need to make sure you hit the ground running on Day 1. I'll discuss the cleanse in detail covering what you should expect and why you must follow the rules strictly for the first 10 days. Commit to these 10 days and the remaining 14 will pay great dividends.
  • Webinar 2: "The Cleanse Ends: Learning to Eat Clean to Get Lean" / Now, you'll learn how to add more variety to your meals while staying focused on the nutrient quality of your food. We'll look at portion sizes, talk about food labels and how to avoid being duped into buying products touted to be "healthy" for you.
  • Webinar 3: "Mastering Your Mind: Strategies for Creating Healthy Habits and Breaking Harmful Patterns" / Special guest Dr. Elizabeth Slator.   Dr. Slator works at Rice University as the director of the University's athletic center and coaches Rice athletes on how to create positive mindsets that lead to improvements and enhancements in their athletic performance. She is also a certified Health and Wellness Coach who finds that the strategies she uses with her athletes translates well into helping people make lasting healthier lifestyle choices. Dr. Slator will share some of those strategies with you to help motivate you to wake up on day 25 and continue with the principles you've learned over the past 24 days. 
  • Webinar 4: "Making Real Food your Real Life: "Moving Forward Beyond the Challenge" -  / If the only thing you can think about is that cheeseburger and fries or piece of cake, pie, etc. that you get to have on day 25 -- well, then this program, like so many others, will just be one more thing you "tried" that didn't work. We want to make sure that doesn't happen. Shana will share her wisdom and experiences and give you some meaty things to think about that will hopefully drive you forward to create the healthier lifestyle you desire.
